96 Bed Acute Ward Block, University Hospital Limerick - Completion

KJA is delighted that the new 96 Bed Ward Block at the University Hospital Limerick was formally opened by the Minister for Health on Monday 13th October 2025.

The development provides four additional 24 bed wards in a 4 storey extension realised above the existing Renal and Emergency Departments which were maintained fully operational throughout construction.  

The Wards are designed to maximise daylight and ventilation with open ended corridors and internal lightwells to create a calming and pleasant environment for patients and staff and takes advantage of wonderful views over Limerick city.

The project is the latest addition to the UHL frontage addressing St Nessan’s Road and complements the Critical Care Block and the Emergency and Renal development completed in 2012 and 2017 respectively also designed by KJA and OCMA.
